I found this guy doing a search on art dealers blog…
Edward Winkleman is a huge art dealer in NYC and the following article from his July 26, 2013 blog is amazing… as are the additional links below in the series… wow!!!
Part I of the interview with Elizabeth Dee focuses on what the 21st Century contemporary art gallery model does/should look like.
“Collectors are spending more time socializing with artists than engaging with the work in galleries, the studio, or in a context that truly supports the artist’s long-term practice. Many artists become known in the system but are not financially secure and living month to month. It’s a real problem masquerading as a very glamorous party.”
Check out her Gallery on 20th Street near Jack’s… what a fuckin home page!!!

…and from the INCREDIBLE article below:
“Collecting is not just about acquiring. It is also about education and understanding.” – what better reason to have a Jack Shainman blog for collectors!
Also gives this great link to NYTImes article on the state of Powerful Art Dealers at http://www.nytimes.com/
In the article below…
Great info about 6th and 7th level galleries… Jack seems like he is both 6th and 7th level! He is a true “Gallerist”!
“So now it is easier to buy art from galleries located in different cities and countries with jpeg images. Often we will reserve an artwork based on a jpeg and will make a decision after we have seen it in person at the gallery or at an art fair.”
